Welcome to the wonderful Samnaun

The Full Winter

Boasting a 160-day winter season, Samnaun is the sophisticated, duty-free counterpart to Ischgl. Together, they form the Silvretta Arena—one of the Alps’ largest and most snow-sure domains. From late November to May, 45 modern lifts connect 239 km of pristine slopes, allowing you to ski seamlessly across the Swiss-Austrian border. Beyond the groomers, the area is a freeride paradise, with the Piz Val Gronda tram opening up vast powder fields in the Fimba Valley. Whether you seek deep snow or tax-free shopping, Samnaun delivers a world-class winter escape.

ENJOY THE BEST WINTER TRIP OF YOUR LIFE

Let’s find you the perfect on snow experience in Samnaun/Ischgl

Why should I book with FIL Alpin instead of a traditional ski school in Samnaun?

While a traditional ski school in Samnaun excels at managing large numbers of students in rigid group structures, FIL Alpin offers a completely different experience. We are a boutique collective of top-tier professionals dedicated to the art of the private ski instructor in Samnaun.

Choosing us means choosing:

Your Agenda, Not Ours: Unlike standard ski lessons in Samnaun that start strictly at 9:00 AM at a central flag, we tailor the schedule to you. We meet you at your hotel, chalet, or on the mountain—whenever suits your holiday rhythm.

A Personal Concierge: We don't just teach you to turn; we curate your day. From finding the best snow conditions to securing hard-to-get lunch reservations, we act as your local host.

Consistent Quality: You aren't booking a system; you are booking a specific professional. We guarantee a higher level of continuity and technical expertise than the rotating seasonal staff often found in mass-market schools.

Where are your meeting points in Samnaun?

We make it easy for you! We define the meeting point together based on what works best for your day.

The best starting point is in Samnaun Ravaisch at the valley station of the L1 Twinliner or right at the top at the Alptrider Sattel.

We're happy to offer a complimentary "Meet & Greet" right at your hotel, or we can simply meet you directly on the slope if that’s your preference!

I am staying in Ischgl. Can I still book a private instructor with FIL Alpin?

Yes, absolutely. Many of our guests stay in Ischgl (Austria) but prefer the private, bespoke approach of FIL Alpin. Since Ischgl and Samnaun share the same ski area (Silvretta Arena), we can easily ski together.

Where do we meet? We typically meet Ischgl-based guests at Idjoch (2,760m) right at the border or Idalp (2,320m). The latter is the main mountain hub directly accessible by gondola from Ischgl village.

Why here? It allows you to start your lesson immediately on the snow without needing to travel to Switzerland first.

Can you meet me at my hotel in Ischgl? Generally, we meet on the mountain  to maximize your ski time. As we are a Swiss-based collective, meeting at the top ensures we spend the day skiing rather than navigating valley logistics.

The Benefit: You get the best of both worlds—Austrian hospitality for your accommodation and Swiss precision for your private coaching. Plus, we can guide you down the famous "Smuggler's Run" duty-free routes into Samnaun for shopping and lunch, then guide you back to Ischgl before the lifts close.

We are a family/group with mixed skiing abilities. Can we book separate instructors?

Absolutely! Whether you're a big family, multiple families or simply a group of friends with varying skill levels, we can arrange for multiple, dedicated instructors to ensure everyone gets the attention they need for an unforgettable day.

Should I stay in Samnaun or Ischgl? What is the difference?

Choose Ischgl if you want legendary nightlife, pulsating après-ski, and a bustling village atmosphere. Choose Samnaun if you prefer a quieter, sophisticated village ambiance, duty-free luxury shopping, and high-quality dining. Both share the exact same ski area, but Samnaun is generally more relaxed and family-oriented.

How do I get to Samnaun by car?

Samnaun's location is tricky. Navigators often send people via the Vereina Tunnel (Switzerland), which costs money and requires a car train, whereas the route via Landeck/Austria is often easier but requires an Austrian vignette.

How difficult is the ski run from Ischgl to Samnaun?

You can ski to Samnaun on blue, red, or black runs. The Piste 80 to Samnaun-Dorf is a red run but can be challenging in the afternoon. However, less confident skiers can take the Twinliner cable car down from Alp Trida to the valley, making the trip accessible to everyone.
